So, the educational law in 1990, the Ley Organica de Ordenacion General del Sistema Educativo (LOGSE), set up a new system that began in 1991-92 academic-year. The most important points of the new structure are as follows:
1. Basic education is obligatory and it is free of charge, plus it is extended till 16 years of age, the legal age to start working.
2. The educational system contains general as well as special education, to be exact. the diverse educational levels are adapted to go well with students with some special needs.
3. Every student has basic vocational training, that is provided in secondary education. So, specific vocational teaching is organized at several levels, the first one at the closing stages of obligatory secondary education, plus the higher level that is at the conclusion of the ‘Baccalaureate’.
4. Perfection of the teaching quality must be realized by means of the rejuvenation of the substance of the courses, perfection in human resources as well as material resources, in addition to better employ of the diverse devices of the educational structure.
5. Religious lessons must be accessible at every school, however it is free-will for pupils.
6. Special structures are applied for language learning as well as artistic education.
General education is structured in the following way:
1. nursery infant education (from 0 – 6 years old)
2. primary education (from 6 – 12 years old)
3. compulsory secondary education (from 12 – 16 years old)
4. post-compulsory secondary education, counting the baccalaureate as well as the medial grade of professional training
5. upper grade professional training
6. university education (so as to become a student of university entrance university examinations must be passed)
